The Welcome Center has a collection of brochures for attractions in the area as well as accommodations and menu's for restaurants. Flossie Brown is our receptionist and she can give directions, or direct you to a business that has the items you need. She can sell you hunting and fishing licenses or provide copy and fax services. We have trail maps and information about the area.

Library Services:

We circulate book and non-book materials; books of fiction, non-fiction, paperbacks, audios, videos, magazines, large print books and newspapers.

Research may be done by yourself or ask for assistance with online, commercial databases, reference books and encyclopedias. You can secure materials from other libraries, health and consumer information and books and serial articles from Research Libraries, Colleges and Universities.

The Indian Lake meal site is a service of the Department of Aging. A nutritious meal is provided for senior citizens each weekday at noon at the Senior Center. Call the site by 8:30 am to make a reservation. The cost to the senior is $2.00. Also to qualified seniors who cannot come to the site a meal is delivered each day by volunteers who transport the meal to the shutin senior. Donna Husson and Bernice Cummins are the staff for the site. Periodically, blood pressure clinics and other services to the aging are available at the site.

The North Country Crafters meet each Tuesday at Byron Park to work on Craft projects. At the monthly club meeting projects are announced and you can sign up for the one you want to work on.

The purpose of CASART is to provide a search and rescue team to assist and aid New York State (NYS) Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Rangers in search and rescue operations.

The primary area that this organization covers is centralized around Inlet and Old Forge NY. Our area of coverage is large, primarily from Blue Mountain

Lake to Stillwater Reservoir to Forestport and over to Indian Lake.

The Comunity Action Program provides Programs and Services for income-eligible, senior, disabled or in need residents of Warren and Hamilton Counties.

We provide:

Weatherization assistance that includes furnace testing, repair or replacement, insulation,caulking, and weather-stripping.

Emergency food, clothing, household items and counseling are available.

When families are in crises we help prevent evictions, help with security deposits, and intervene to prevent utility termination.

We distribute food in conjunction with area farmers.

The Senior Handyman program provides labor for minor home maintenance or repair that is too physically demanding for senior citizens.

A food buying co-op is available on a monthly basis which permits residents to purchase $30 worth of groceries for $14.
